How to Cultivate White or Brown Button Mushrooms

This kit includes colonised compost and a bag of cover soil. Follow these steps for successful mushroom cultivation:

1. Preparation:
   - Remove the bag of cover soil from the packaging and store it in a cool place.
   - Set the packaging with the plastic lid aside for 4+ days at a temperature of 20-25°C. During this time, the compost will turn completely white with fungus (mycelium).

2. Cover Soil Application:
   - Punch ten holes on each side of the cover soil bag.
   - Soak the bag in 0.5 litres of water for 30 minutes.
   - Open the bag and spread the cover soil evenly and loosely over the compost.

3. Incubation:
   - Close the packaging with the lid and set it aside for 5-8 days at a temperature of 20-25°C. The mycelium will grow through the cover soil layer to the surface.

4. Growth Phase:
   - Once the cover soil is covered with white mycelium, move the set to a cooler place with a temperature of 15-18°C.
   - Regularly mist the cover soil with a plant spray to keep it from drying out.

5. Watering:
   - When a good number of mushroom pins appear, you can water the set with a watering can. Ensure the soil remains moist but not too wet.
   - Mushrooms will first appear at the edges and then in the center.

6. Harvesting:
   - Gently pull out a mushroom by twisting it between your fingertips. Avoid pulling without twisting and do not harvest undersized mushrooms.
   - Continue to water regularly to prevent the cover soil from drying out.
   - After harvesting all the mushrooms, water the set again. New mushrooms should appear in about a week, and this cycle can repeat up to three times.
