Several of our directors have visited the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week. They were delighted to be back at the famous Chelsea showground and Martin has shared some of his highlights from the show:
The show gardens always offer a spectacle and this year did not disappoint. Martin's favourite was The Perennial Garden 'With Love', designed by Richard Miers. With an abundance of plants and modern sculpture, the design combines classical and contemporary to make a welcoming and calming space. The colour scheme appealed, with soft white and plum flowers softening the mainly green palette.
Over in the Container Gardens, Jane Porter's The Still Garden really caught Martin's eye. Again, a predominantly green palette is complimented with an occasional 'pop' of colour in this small garden inspired by Scotland and the plants that thrive across the Highlands and Islands. Small but perfectly formed, the garden won a gold medal and Best Balcony/Container Garden. As with many other gardens, there was a focus on sustainability with the reclaimed Scottish whiskey casks and copper gin distilling pot.
Away from the gardens, in the Great Pavilion, Martin enjoyed both floral and foliage displays. With tributes to The Queen in the lead up to her Platinum Jubilee and a fantastic range of displays, it was clear to see that everyone was enjoying their first Spring time Chelsea Flower Show since 2019. These stunning Delphiniums were a highlight, as well as a bright and bold Alstroemeria display and some fantastic Hostas.
If you have been inspired by Chelsea, pop in to see us! We have many of the plants that have been showcased and our friendly team are always on hand to help.
