Rhubarb 'Champagne'
Description: Champagne is a traditional, old variety that produces long, thick, bright scarlet stems with a deliciously sweet taste. Very easy to grow, reliable and early cropping. Can be eaten fresh from the bush or cooked into alcoholic beverages of an excellent pink colour, Rhubarb jams and crumbles. The perfect early summer treat! The leaves are very attractive and atrovirens, but they have a level of oxalic acid so high in the leaves that they are slightly poisonous.
Rhubarb Growing Tips: Rhubarbs need an open, sunny site with moist, but free-draining soil. Avoid frost pockets as the stems are susceptible to frost. Do not harvest during the first year after planting as this will reduce the vigour. Once planted, it should not be moved and appreciates a generous annual mulch of well-rotted compost or manure.

- National delivery orders - Thursday 19th December. Any orders made after 14:00 on this date will be held until deliveries resume, starting Thursday 2nd January
