'J C van Tol' is an evergreen, self-fertile female tree reaching up to 6m in height, with a broadly upright growth habit. It features dark-purple young shoots and nearly spineless, glossy, dark green leaves. In late spring, it produces small white flowers, which are followed by a profusion of bright red berries.
