Filipendula 'Red Umbrellas'
This deciduous variety of Filipendula is a slightly different variety, as was first created by plant breeder Yohei Hosogai, who created a hybrid of the Filipendula multijuga and the Filipendula palmata. With its heavily veined, hardy red and green foliage, it makes perfect ground cover. This unique maple-shaped foliage bears delicate puffs of scented tiny purple and pink tone flowers, resembling candy-floss.
Its smaller size makes it a great choice for smaller gardens or accompanying ground cover plants or in smaller shady spots. 'Red Umbrellas' prefer protection from hot midday summer sun, and are a perfect addition to a bog-garden or moist borders.
